Esports Godfather
I originally posted this to a discord group I frequent, but figured it would make a good blog post as well.
Not sure if anyone has the same intersection of interests that I do but lately I have been playing Esports Godfather. This is a deckbuilder (very light) card battler MOBA esports team management simulator. You play the coach of a MOBA team (think League of Legends, DOTA, or Smite) who coaches a team up from the internet cafe leagues to the premiere league with promotion and relegation. You have a roster of team members whom you can train up, swap out during the off seasons, and customize their training to match the heroes and tactics you want to employ. Each of them has some special abilities for during the game and post game, as well as some specific cards that will go into your deck based on them. The rest of your deck will be built out of the heroes they pick to play each game and sometimes some of the items those heroes may purchase.
During the match you will have a top down point of view of the map and see where your units and the enemy units are. After a certain threshold of strategy points is reached you will be able to play cards out of your hands spending these strategy points. These will allow you to setup ganks, bolster your units, and use their special abilities. At certain time periods in the game, events will occur that will cause your team to group for a team fight. If you are unable to win by a certain time limit it will force one final fight with the winner of that fight winning the game.
Throughout the season and between seasons there will be changes to the in game rules. Items will rotate in and out, new heroes will be released, minor and major rules will be implemented that make it feel fresh each season you play. Each team you play will have players with their own unique strengths and hero pools to pick from. So you have a pick and ban phase during each game that you can try to remove their best heroes from their options while they do the same for you.
All in all I have been enjoying this game immensely. I put in something like 60 hours in less than 2 weeks. if the above topics interest you at all definitely give it a look. It also has a demo that lets you play for quite a bit to get a feel if it is something you would like or not.
